The rest house is located in the Basantgarh, Ramnagar city of District Udhampur. During winter season, the areas remain under snow cover just like Patnitop and during summer season climate remain pleasant & cool with least humidity. The vegetation is mainly Conifers like Deodar, Kail and Spruce etc. The rest house was established in 1970. Basantgarh is situated near to the river Ujh, there is a Vasuki nag temple near the FRH. A  water fall is also there at Kirchi which is 15 Kms from Basantnagh towards Dudu. The place is popular with its natural beautly of mountains/hills with rich bio- diversity of conifer plants.
